LVG meets The Flying Scotsman
The Flying Scotsman was visiting Nene Valley Railway and were offering mid week tickets to a footplate visit and a tour of their engineering sheds. This was an opportunity, not to miss and 19 members and friends took the drive up the A1 to enjoy a great day out.
The weather was kind and 3 TR’s made the journey, although they had to park in the general car park, so there are no photos of the cars. However, there are many good photos of trains etc and this included seeing “Tornado” which was at the facility for servicing and was being test steamed on the day of our visit.
The highlight of the day was the ability to get onto the footplate of the Flying Scotsman and the volunteers were able to give us lots of interesting information, with groups of 4 or 5 having around 10 minutes on the FP.
