LVG Shine & Show 2022

LVG Shine & Show 2022

The day before the 5th running of our S&S saw record UK temperatures (40 degrees+) and wild fires breaking out all over the South East of England. The weather was due to break for the day of our event, but the forecast was for cloudbursts and localized flooding. As organisers, we were very worried we would not get anyone turn up. How wrong could we be?

The morning of set up was hot, but cooler than the day before and our volunteer team worked tirelessly to prepare the field and by 3pm we were ready for our 4.30pm start. The first car arrived just before 3pm and by 4.30pm we had filled at least a third of the field. Cars continued to stream in and by 7pm we were getting dangerously close to being full up. In the end we had around 200 classics and 30 moderns in the field. The Jazz band, Lend us a Tenor and the ice cream seller were doing their thing and the pub was selling beer and burgers to the 500/600 attendees.

At 7.15pm we started the prize giving with Wayne Scott delivering an interesting address about the current Classic Car World, before drawing the raffle. This years star prize was a 2 night break in Norfolk in an AirB&B.

The winner of the best TR at the show was one Anthony Hamilton with a blue TR5 that had only just finished a complete restoration. Not quite complete Anthony - No front number platešŸ˜.

Lewis Hamilton had sent his dog Roscoe, who seemed to be enjoying himself and was certainly pleased who had won the best TR award.

Thank you British weather for the rain holding off until half an hour after the prize giving finished. The Morris Men did unfortunately get a bit damp.

How do we improve on what was the best S&S we have held so far?
