LVG visit IWM Duxford with a Catalina experience
With IWM Duxford on the LVG patch, it is a go to place for many members. One of the LVG committee is a volunteer ground crew member of the Catalina flying boat that is based there and organised a most informative day hearing about the aircrafts history, including a walk through of the fuselage and cockpit. Limited to 16 people per day means you get close and personal with the aircraft which is named “Miss Pickup”. Our visit was fortunate to be on a rather warm day and only 2 days before a major Duxford Flying weekend. This meant many aircraft movements with other warbirds practicing their display routines. Practically a personal airshow to augment our personal Catalina day.
