Kennet Valley Group. Castle Combe Track Day

Kennet Valley Group. Castle Combe Track Day

TR Register Castle Coombe Track Day.

The only special equipment requirement was a “skid lid”. A few basic precautions suggested tyres with decent tread and checks of all vital organs before venturing on to the track.

The day starts with a briefing to all drivers on course etiquette. Where to overtake safely and the meaning of various lights and flags.

Cars are grouped as to compatibility but the emphasis is enjoyment. You can go as fast as you feel comfortable with no compulsion at all.

The day was divided into 15 minute sessions, giving plenty of time to carry out “siting” laps to find the braking points and corner apexes.

I was fortunate enough to be a passenger with Eddie Mace. A TR6 owner who on this occasion took his recently acquired MG TF160. Car owners can name additional drivers, and passengers suitably robed, are also welcome.

It really is a wonderful opportunity to exercise your car in a way that is not possible on the road. Great camaraderie in the car park between runs with some excellent advice for the less experienced.

Basic but more than adequate refreshment facilities are available on site.

Thanks to the TR Register for organising. A great day, very professionally marshalled
