Kennet Valley Group Members help to give Acacia Care Home Residents a Special Memory Day!

On Saturday 12th June, three KVG cars were invited to join a group of other classic car enthusiasts on a visit to the Acacia Care Home in Henley on Thames. The plan was to put on a special show for the residents and staff.

All told there were 16 cars, mostly from the 60s and 70s, joined by some Supercars from the last ten years. The residents were able to watch from their windows, or were brought out in their wheelchairs, and went from car to car, admiring them and talking to the owners.

For many it brought back memories of their own motoring days, and they were able to share stories with their families of cars they had owned themselves, and trips they had done, with some emotional moments as they relived these times.

The following email from Wendy, one of the staff who had helped organise the day says it all:

Hi Emrhys.

Thank you all for coming, it was a wonderful day and the residents are still chatting about how lovely you are all through today.

The picture are great. I will download them and give them to families and use them in my Acacia Special Days scrapbook.

Thank you again.

Hope to see you all again one day.

Take care.

Wendy

Thanks for the write up and photos to Emrhys & Linda Barrell

The event was organised and private invites were received from White Horse Classic Vehicle Enthusiasts Club.
