Kennet Valley TR Group Celebrates its 50th Anniversary on Cyberspace!
The photo above is the oldest we have of Ian Avery helping set up the disco at the first Christmas do held at Caversham Village hall. Do you have an older one?

The Kennet Valley TR Group was originally founded and known as the Butt Inn TR Group (due to where they met in the village of Aldermaston) on the 4th November 1970, by Ian Avery, Bill Tognarelli and John Whicher. Two years later in March 1972, the name was changed to the Kennet Valley TR Group rather than being named after a pub.

A meeting in the 70's at the Coach & Horses, Midgham, Berkshire

KVG members had planned BIG celebrations but of course these couldn't go ahead, so we all met in cyberspace to look back over 50th active years, during those years KVG has attended many events, won may awards, travelled across Europe, had great parties and above all a close knit membership of friend all with the common interest of TR sports cars.

Who's this under his TR3A?

Phil Horsley presented the evening with some history, a photo montage to music which the was a quiz about after, see if you can answer the questions by watch the video on the web, member recognitions and a session of members stories, the longest serving member Mike Gush was in attendance who join in 1970 along with fellow long term members, Toney Dines and Sara Westwood,

Here is the a photo montage to music, watch this and then go to the questions in the presentation and see if you can answer them? (please note original sound track changed to what was presented due to licencing)

Questions can be found in the presentation, click below, why not test your knowledge.

An early newsletter

There was also a great time for members stories and recollections of activities, events and previous and present members. Tina & Toney Dines won the quiz and a bottle of KVG 50th Bollinger Champagne which was sent to their home to enjoy.

A super evening for all and we will celebrate our 50+1 next year when we can all get together again.

Happy Anniversary Kennet Valley Group, and here's to the next 50!

A BIG THANKS to the Tina & Toney Dines, Mike Gush, Sara & David Westwood, Val & Denis Carter, Wendy & Joe Douthwaite and many others for their valuable photos and contributions which helped make the evening so successful.
