Kennet Valley TR Group enjoy Brian Terry's presentation on development of the Rover V8 Engine
Kennet Valley TR Group April Club night was a visit from Brian Terry who joined Rover from school, served his apprenticeship and at 20 years old had the dream job of testing and developing the Rover V8 engine which was produced in agreement of Buick (General Motors), USA in Rover cars from P5 through to SD1.
Brian delivered a very interesting presentation with many anecdotes of his adventures developing the engine including averaging 111 mph between Birmingham and Manchester (of course no speed limits then) taking readings from 16 instruments every three minutes during the journey and then plotting the data on a graph, who needs computers?
