Kennet Valley TR Group REV IT UP at their Xmas & New Year Bash

Another year had gone by and it was time for Kennet Valley TR Group members, friends and families and some fellow TR enthusiasts from Vale of White Horse Group to go to their Xmas Bash & New Year.

This years event was held at the Hallmark Carlton Hotel, East Cliff, Bournemouth, a lovely classic hotel with super views of the sea and Bournemouth from most rooms.

Most party makers took advantage of the great offer from the hotel and spent the weekend their having walks around a slightly wet January Dorset either shopping or visiting attractions such as the famous Pier, Winter gardens and museums.

Then it was time for the Bash, so everyone put on their best dancing clothes and shoes and headed into the ballroom, a very well presented three course dinner was served of various choices pre-booked before arrival.

Then it was time to celebrate a 70th Birthday, Paul Woodham a long standing member and owner of a beautiful and very well presented TR4A. Paul has vast experience being a mechanic since leaving school, working for many British car companies, BL, Rover to name a few and also Mercedes.

Paul is the 'font of knowledge' within the KVG and has given advice and help to many a TR user and recently was involved in the restore of TR5 Patience, a 17 chapter blog by Bill Bourne on the TRR webpages. HAPPY 70th PAUL! Then it was time to dance.

A great knees up dancing the hours away until past midnight, then of course a night cap.

The following morning after a hearty full English, with much better weather it was time to have a last look around Bournemouth and head back to Berkshire.

Just down from the hotel was the memorial to Jon Egging - Red Arrows pilot who tragically died at the Bournemouth Air Festival in 2011, the memorial of 3 Red Arrows soaring into the sky paid for by locals which was shining in the sunshine.

Now events like this don't just happen, and there is a BIG THANK YOU to Linda & Emrhys Barrell for all the thorough and spot on arrangements and the staff of the hotel for the great service and hospitality to all members. ROLL ON NEXT YEAR!
