Wokingham Winter Carnival a nice night out for KVG members Moreen & Gerry!

Wokingham Winter Carnival a nice night out for KVG members Moreen & Gerry!

The first Wokingham Winter Carnival was held in 1994. It takes place every year, and the theme this year was 'Love Wokingham: A Winter Wonderland'.

It is a free community event held in the town centre with entertainment for all the family. Broad Street had a large fun fair, including a Ferris Wheel, hated house, trampolines, 'Miami trip' ride, children's roundabouts, clowns and comedy jugglers.

In Peach Street and the market place were food, craft and charity stalls, and Morris dancers were performing in Peach Street. The funds raised from the carnival supports local charities.

The procession with floats and walkers, a pipe band, Morris dancers, and classic cars, started off from Shute End at 4pm and wound its way through the town. Barkham & District Classic Car Club organised the classic cars and we took our Stag, and decorated it with fairy lights and Union Jack bunting. There were thousands of spectators lining the streets during the procession, and the whole atmosphere was magical.

We enjoyed it very much, and next year it would be great to see a few more cars from KVG attending.

Thanks to Moreen & Gerry Thorne for the report and photos.
