Kennet Valley TR Group enjoy a great day out at Wheels Vintage Vehicles, Cookham Dean
Moreen & Gerry Thorne in their Stag, Joyce & Paul Woodham, and Wendy Warren and Joe Douthwaite, both in their TR4a's, attended the Wheels at Cookham Dean classic car show held at the cricket club on Sunday 7th October. It was a lovely sunny, but chilly day. The event was supposed to have taken place in April, but the site was waterlogged after heavy rain, and it was re-scheduled to October. Also there, were Richard Owen & his wife, not in his TR, but the family Citroen 2CV Dolly which they have owned from new, and Andrew with his red TR2 & his mate with a nice TR6, both from the Windsor Forest group. The event was very well attended with cars of all makes and years, a Triumph Roadster, Triumph Vitesse, Jaguar E Types, MG B's, Riley Elfs and Wolseley Hornets, Minis, Ford Zephyr, Ferrari (in rubbed down grey primer). There were 2 Austin Devons with big V8 (5.7 litre) engines under the bonnet, VW Beetles, a bright orange Lamborghini to name just a few.
The Citroen 2CV's put on a good display, there were classic motor cycles, and military vehicles.
There was one auto – jumble stall with all proceeds going to the charity. Paul needless to say had to buy a few bits and pieces.
It was a very enjoyable day, and perhaps could be a group event next year.
Thanks to Moreen & Gerry Thorne for the report and pictures.
