Kennet Valley TR Group & Vale of the White Horse have a great sunny Drive it Day & Wets Berks too!

Kennet Valley TR Group & Vale of the White Horse have a great sunny Drive it Day & Wets Berks too!

21 KVG & VoWH members in 16 TR's, 3 Stags, 1 MG and 1 Mustang GT, mustered at the Uffington White Horse Car Park to set out on the Drive it Day route well researched by Darren Cummings.

Setting off at 10:30 and following the route supplied, everyone enjoyed the route from Uffington, through Lambourn, the infamous race horse valley, to Great Shefford and then across the Berkshire downs through Farnborough heading for the Bear at Home, North Moreton. Unfortunately and typically at a road junction, a TR6 decide to stop, it appeared to be the not uncommon fuel issue, the AA were called and of course when they arrived, it started and ran perfectly, so was driven to the pub, but of course the symptoms return and it limped back home.

A hearty meal, natter & noggin was enjoyed by all and with the excellent service of the staff a very enjoyable Sunday DiD lunch.

Several more members join in the fun at the pub including Glen Hewitt, from Protek in Wallingford in the excellently restored and historic Jabbeke TR2 MVC 575.

It was time to hit the road again and from the Bear at Home the run went on through Wallingford and made a scheduled stop at Notcutts, Nuneham Courtney, this has become a favourite stop off for KVG & VoWH members as the mananger Jonathan Tew is a keen classic enthusiast owning a Triumph 1300 and having established the 1st Notcutts Classic car show last year, it's on again this year so why not come along July 8th 2018.

At Notcutts, the two TR Groups went their different ways, VoWH on towards Stamford in the Vale and their meeting venue The Horse & Jockey for further refreshments, and KVG headed back to Berkshire, some stopping off at Linda & Emrhys Barrell's for afternoon tea and cakes.

This was a great Drive it Day enhance by the fine April sunshine. a BIG thanks to Darren Cummings for his organisation of the route and the event, the Bear at Home for a super lunch, Notcutts for their hospitality and Linda & Emrhys Barrell for the afternoon tea.

We are looking forward to next years Drive it Day and forthcoming TR events in 2018, the next for KVG mid=monthly is My Pride & Joy, at the Cottage, Upper Bucklebury on Saturday, 25th May 2018, hope to see you there!

Some Kennet Valley TR Group members attended the West Berks run which encompassed a visit to West Berks Brewery.

There was a plethora of different classics at this Drive it Day event, no doubt encourage by the old adage 'We're only here for the beer!', seriously though there were well organised runs with superb lunches at local hosteleries which were enjoyed by all attending. Thanks to Mike Field for the pictures.
