Kennet Valley TR Group enjoy 'Sunday Drive Day' at Sandford Springs Golf Club inaugural Classic Car day

Some Kennet Valley TR Group members took advantage of better weather on 'Sunday Drive Day' to go along to the inaugural Classic Car show at Sandford Springs Golf Club, Kingsclere, Hampshire.

Over one hundred cars turned up from vintage to modern classics to sample this new event. There were car placed around various pitches on the fairway, by bunkers, water traps and practice greens leading to some very photogenic scenes for classic cars.

Stephen Taylor took along his TR2 and 1968 TVR and Peter Fairland took along his 1968 TR6 and 'barn find' Stag driven by his brother, Val & Denis Carter brought along their TR6 and there there was a TR5 from Hampshire as well as my TR250.

Also there was a rare and early TR8 test car, there were circa 2,746 ever built and approx 150 were Fixed heads, right hand drive TR8's are very rare with between 18-22 ever built.

This TR8 had test track data authentication so made it a very early preproduction car chassis number X923 that holds the record of being the fastest car to ever leave the factory with a MIRA test of 137mph and was used for endurance testing. It was given to Gaydon Motor Museum where it was in stock for 15 years then sold by auction to a private buyer, and purchased by the current owner in 2015, it has only covered 4,500 miles in it's 30 year life, see details below:

A very nice new event in very pleasant surrounding, there were food & drink, live music, bouncy castle to add to the event and atmosphere.

Worth putting in the the diary for next year.
