Kennet Valley Social Scene - 286

Kennet Valley Social Scene - 286

It was a dry evening, if slightly chilly, for our September club night which resulted in a good attendance with a number of TRs in the car park. For our mid month event, we were to have been heading to the Weald and Downland Open Air Museum but this was cancelled due to members other commitments. It was decided to put the run into the archives and re-schedule for the spring or summer next year.

Xtrac Ltd (Transmission Technology Specialists) invited KVG members along to their Thatcham premises in October as a follow-up to the presentation, given at one of our club nights, by company founder Mike Endean. There were 26 taking part in the tours of the factory and they all found the morning extremely interesting and informative.

Shalbourne show was a little later than usual, the first Sunday in October. This event changed venue last year and now benefits the Sports Club that hosts it. It was a foggy start in places but the sun soon burnt through and it was a warm day meaning there was, once again, a large number and wide range of vehicles on display. We had quite a few Triumphs on show with KVG, VOWH and the TSSC parked together. Next year might see the organisers having to expand into the next field as, like the old venue, the event seems to have filled the site to capacity. The following day saw almost non-stop rain so we were very lucky, as were all the other classic events of the weekend, including the Hants and Berks Motor Club rally through Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire which some KVG members took part in.

Our October and November club nights will have had added interest in the form of guest speakers, reports to follow in the next issue. If any of you have any suggestions for future speakers, on any subject not just vehicle related, please let the committee know so that we can try to arrange them.

On Sunday 15th November we will be visiting The Museum of Army Flying at Middle Wallop in Hampshire, meeting at Nelsons Diner, Kingsclere at 9.00 for a 9.30 departure. The run will take us through the Aldermaston/Kingsclere/Whitchurch areas, if you want to meet up en route then let us know. More information will be available at November club night and on our facebook group which you can find at 'TR Register - Kennet Valley Group'. If your TR is not on the road, you are welcome to come along in your everyday car.

There are still a few places left for the KVG Christmas Party on Saturday 16th January 2016. Final date for bookings, menu selections and balance of payment is 2nd December (Club Night), for details email karenwoolnough@hotmail.com or contact any committee member.
