Glavon Group at Steam Museum, Swindon - 2nd March 2025

Our usual first Sunday of the month event coincided with beautiful clear sunny weather for our visit to this renowned museum housed in the oldest part of the Great Western Railway's works, dating back to about 1840 and which, at its peak employed nearly 14,000 people! Whilst some of the ladies elected to visit the adjoining designer outlet centre for some retail therapy, the rest of us enjoyed a guided tour conducted by a very knowledgeable man who made the visit very interesting.  

The tour even took us through an inspection pit beneath a Castle Class locomotive!

After the tour, most went to find a suitable eaterie and a small group of us ended up visiting the The Farmhouse Inn at Haydon Wick for an excellent late lunch.
