Glavon Group - Christmas Dinner 14th December 2024

This year we returned to The Frocester George near Eastington for the first time since 2006 for our Christmas Dinner. The very attractive room was ideal for our numbers and it has to be said that the food, service and general ambience were all excellent.

After the meal, there was the traditional quiz devised by Andy West which was won by the team comprising John Coulthard, Tom and Peggy Brown, and Dave and Babs Kilminster. Jill West then did the raffle. 

It was then time for the eagerly awaited awards presented by Group Leader Jeff Mason-Wenn, with the coveted Wally of the Year award going to Chris Bates for reversing over an alligator tooth barrier and punching a hole in the trailing arm of his TR6! Jeff then presented Dave Crinson with the Bright Spark award by way of being the silver medallist in the Wally category. He had fitted an auxiliary power socket to his car which literally produced a bright spark. He then repeated the procedure with a new power socket with the same result before realising that he had the polarity wrong! The Group Leader's award went to Lesley Swain in recognition of all the work she has done as Events Director of the TR Register.

It was nice to welcome some new faces to the Glavon ranks: Dave and Babs Kilminster, Mike and Val Jennings and Dave and Janet Pope. 

Vince and Carol Sterland also moved back to our area relatively recently and we were able to help Carol celebrate a significant birthday on the night.
