Allan Jezzard Writes:-
Events so far have been thin on the ground although we have continued with our regular evening meetings at the Farmhouse Inn, near Thaxted on the second Thursday of the month and we’re still trying out the Cricketers at Fordham Heath (instead of the Alma) on the final Thursday each month.
A few of us (14 in all) attended the Glavon Group January party weekend hosted by Lesley and Sally at the Limpley Stoke hotel as happens every year. Being TR-less does bring its own benefits as Bob and Judy Moss provided our transport down to Bath - doubling up thereby doing our bit to save the planet! Thanks guys. As usual, Lesley and her helpers were on hand to greet us and resolve any problems (none for us) but it’s so reassuring. We met up with some old friends and made some new ones, very sociable get together especially on the Saturday party night so well done to Lesley & co.
A fairly regular event in recent years has been a breakfast meet at Poplar Nurseries at Marks Tey; I was actually quite grateful that I didn’t have a TR to use as it was freezing. However about 30 members turned out to over indulge in gut busting fayre and what’s more a whole lot of TRs mustered in spite of the rain that eventually caught us all (see photo).
Coming up, we have a Saturday morning visit to JD Classics in Chelmsford. Veronica and I had a preview and were bog-eyed at some of the vehicles and craftsmanship on display and I’m sure the 40 members due to go on the 18th March will be just as impressed.
Our AGM will have taken place by the time you read this, so expect some changes. I am standing down as GL and so too is Alan Short, our Events Coordinator. Watch this space and check our website for replacements.
