Allan Jezzard writes:-

As mentioned in the last report, it was our AGM on 3rd March and as with many AGMs I suspect, not much changed. The committee was re-instated still without an editor for our Magazine, East Saxons Periodical (ESP). The following day we returned to the general area of Thaxted for the funeral of Ray Gill. The little church of St Marys, Lindsell was well populated with friends made over the years and of course his family; a very nice goodbye to one of our elder members.

One thing has changed though; it was agreed that our third Thursday of the month meetings at the Three Compasses should be discontinued. In future we will be meeting at the Farmhouse on the SECOND Thursday of the month and at the Alma on the LAST Thursday.

The Rose Garden at Hullbridge was the venue for a Sunday lunch on 3rd April. 24 members and partners (a few in TRs) gathered in South East Essex for a two or three course traditional carvery roast meal. Needless to say, catching up with members’ activities during the “closed season” was a favourite subject for discussion over lunch and, of course, was future events and trips.

With Drive It Day fast approaching, I really must try to identify the source of some unwanted thumping from the rear of the 6. Hopefully it is just the result of a certain amount of inactivity due to COVID. A friend has offered to assist as my ability to get out and get under is somewhat curtailed these days.

Our Events List is published on our website www.eastsaxons.com and major alterations will be communicated via e-mail to all members.
