Our August run was Sunday 11th. It was a grey and windy day with occasional sunny periods. We saw a very different mix of cars to the usual turn out for this one: 1 x TR7, no less than 8 x 6s, 2 x 5s, no 4s and only me in the solitary side-screen car, plus a couple of other non-TRs. Rob & Janice took us on routes that we hadn’t used at all very recently, across the Vale of York, through Harswell & East Cottingwith, North Duffield & Cawood, towards Sherburn Aero Club. Our destination was the newly opened “The Motorist” combined café, classic car showroom & classic car service centre. Here we were greeted by Vale of York Group’s Roger Taylor, who is working there. There was also a BBQ cooking away for us. Thanks to Rob & Janice Leonard for a good run and to the team at “The Motorist” for looking after us all. This seems a great destination for club runs, and Vale of York will be following us there shortly.
The weekend of 16/18 August was the TRR IWE at the new venue of Stratford on Avon. I know that some of you were there, as usual, but we had the TR in Ireland. So, I missed this IWE for the first time in a long time. Whilst you were all basking in a heat wave, we had rain. The first reports from IWE attendees that I heard were from the Triumph Classic Owners Club Ireland guys, in Dublin, at their “Deadman’s Inn” meeting.
