EasTRiding Social Scene Report for June 2018

The 5th June meeting, on a sunny evening, managed to see 10 TRs lined up at The Light Dragoon (and an E-type) with the rest in ordinary cars. The weekend 8-10 June was the Derby Dales weekend at Cromford. We were the only EasTRiding car there but met up with many old friends. This is always a well-organized event in attractive scenery. More of you should try it. Our June run fell on the 17th this year. The Bells had planned this one, but then decided to do the TR / Car Tours event in Spain. The Fosters offered to deliver the Bells offering. We had lots of clouds about but it was often threatening to be sunny. The route took us up and down the Wolds in an interesting fashion. Lots of people praised the route – Thanks Martyn & Jill. But Shane & Chris trialled and delivered the route so thanks to them too. Being Fathers’ Day, this was always planned as a picnic. We picnicked at Kilnwick Percy Hall and Buddhist Temple. With the Bells & Myers in Spain and others gadding about we were down to 10 cars for this one, but including Steve Butter in his red 3A again, ably navigated by his daughter Gabrielle. Wednesday 20th June was the massive evening East Yorkshire Thoroughbred Car Club show, which spills through the whole of Beverley town centre. I met quite a few of the TR Regulars around with a few showing their cars. There were several other TRs including a 6 and a 7 that we didn’t know! 29th June to 1st July the International Weekend was just south of us, across the bridge at Lincoln. Together with the sunny weather, this probably accounted for the large number of EasTRiding Group members attending the event this year. This is the largest number of local members that I’ve seen at an IWE.
