TR Action 330

TR Action 330

Well, the restrictions are easing but the weather has been pretty atrocious. Not really TR’ing weather I’m afraid – apart from the last 2 days and I’m pleased to say that we’ve just come back from the first of Paul’s Picnics. A meeting set-up at short notice and sent to all Devon members via MailChimp, to make the best of a weather window, and this one was at Fernworthy Reservoir where a good number of Devon members were able to attend and enjoy the fresh air and blow away some of the car’s cobwebs - it was nice to see everyone. Unfortunately, for those who have been following my woes, I wasn’t in my TR.. even though I have it back home just yesterday, it decided to cut-out on me on a short drive and not wanting to risk not getting back for our COVID jabs in the afternoon, we were in another marque.

Some other Devon members have been able to make the most of some small , local group events, which we refer to as Social 6’s and I’m pleased to report that a number of members were also able to get out and about on Drive it Day too. A small selection of photos have been added to our Devon gallery, so thank you for those.

We have continued to hold our monthly zoom meetings and once again, I’d like to thank those of you who have joined in. Last time, we had an interesting group Q&A session hearing about people’s experiences and preferences regarding coils, spark plugs and fuel pipe suitable for use with E10 petrol. As I write this, I am hoping that instead of another zoom, our ‘first Thursday’ meeting, next week, can be an outside gathering at the Traveller’s Rest beer garden - when we read this, we will know if my hope materialised.

You will have seen a recent invitation from the TR Register Office, inviting us to attend a seminar entitled Modern Fuels, Classic Engines. Brought to you by the TR Register, this was a presentation by Dr Paul Ireland and was a most informative session to highlight some of the issues and benefits that we might expect with the introduction of more ethanol into our petrol. This was the first of three seminars which link together and I can recommend the next ones to you (in July and August) as well as suggest that, if you’re interested, Paul has produced a book (with royalties going to charity) on the subject. Coincidentally, our own Paul (Gibson) has written an article on ethanol petrol compatible fuel pipes for our next In the Garage newsletter too, so look out for that one.

I hope that things continue to improve and I look forward to catching up with, out and about, sometime soon. Best wishes, Alan
