TR Action 319

TR Action 319

I’m writing this on the day of our General Election, who knows what the outcome might be but let’s hope there aren’t any plans to affect how we enjoy our TRs. It’s pretty wet and windy outside but, for those who do read my reports, my car passed its MOT no problem and the sun was shining on that particular day for a change.

This weekend passed was our Devon Christmas lunch and we certainly had an enjoyable time with 42 members attending and dressing up for our end of year party, so thank you to those that were able to come, it was nice to see you all.

In my last report, I promised to provide an update from our Devon AGM, well, the results are in and I can confirm that I am continuing as your Group Leader but I’ll be joined by two members to help me. As mentioned, Kevin Byrnes has decided to step down after being our Treasurer who’s looked after our finances for the last 9 years and I can confirm that Mark Radford, kindly volunteered and was elected last month. I also mentioned that I wanted to strengthen our focus on events in the calendar with a Social Secretary and I’m pleased to advise that Paul Gibson volunteered and was elected for this role.

Our AGM saw the award of our member’s Christie Trophy and in its third year, this has gone to Martin Lovell. Martin received nominations from a number of members recognising his support to the local group and no doubt, the support to the central TR Register too, so well done and thank you Martin.

We managed to squeeze out a further issue of our In the Garage newsletter. Quite a bumper issue once more, comprising of major activities ongoing in the North, with contributions from Andrew, John and Paul. All of which makes some excellent reading, so thank you to you guys. There’s every opportunity for the rest of us to add a piece too for the next issue, so please send any contributions through to Andrew.

Our Events Calendar for 2020 is already on our Devon web page and activities are being filled in. There are plenty of opportunities for you to suggest or arrange one of the Sunday lunch meetings, so if you can help, please get in touch with myself or Paul.

Also agreed at our AGM, we shall be returning to the Travellers Rest ay Whitestone for our 1st Thursday of the month, evening meetings. We’ve tried out the food and we’ll have a reserved area in the main bar for our meeting, so I hope to see you there. The first meeting will be on Thursday 6thFebruary from around 7.30pm.

2020 is the year of the 50th anniversary of the TR Register and we’ll be arranging some special events to mark this achievement, so please keep an eye on our Events Calendar and emails from myself. If you’re not getting these, please do get in touch, my details are in the magazine. All the best, Alan
