TR Action 315

TRA315 – Devon Group

Hi everyone I hope you are enjoying your TRs in the improving sunshine that summer brings. As a group we are increasingly busy with car shows and our Sunday lunch meetings in addition to our Thursday and Friday get-togethers which are proving increasingly popular with growing numbers attending one or other of these events as we try out some new locations.

We recently enjoyed the full day of sunshine at the Killerton classic car show where we provided an impressive display of shiny TRs of all colours and along with new members recent recruits to the Devon membership of Tony & Anne and Rick & Sue also joining us with their cars. I’m also pleased to announce that John & Kay won third prize in the most voted for cars on show on the day – shame it wasn’t for either of their TR’s which are both ‘work in progress’ but for their Beach Buggy! Please see our TRR Devon Facebook page for a number of excellent photos provided by Jo Radford.

The following week we ventured to North Devon for our Sunday lunch at the Westerly Inn at Instow, kindly arranged by Jennie this was following a lovely drive up through some country roads from our earlier meeting point at Bow Garden Centre for coffee. The day was topped off with a quick jaunt across the river Torridge to Appledore to enjoy a delicious ‘Hockings’ ice cream.

A small group of us recently enjoyed a trip to Ireland, organised by Jennie and Martin. A packed itinerary saw us travelling each day to take in the sights of the south-west including Dingle Peninsula and the Ring of Kerry, whilst the evenings were fully booked for Guinness, wine and some local music. There were a few problems with our cars but ongoing fixes meant that we all got home safely after around 1400 miles. To find out some of the problems and who broke down the most, you’ll have to wait for our next In the Garage newsletter.

Thanks to Jane, Anna and Steve, this weekend was our Father’s Day special attending the local Morwellham show after a local hearty breakfast and we’ve got our next Sunday Lunch coming up at Exebridges, arranged by Sarah & Peter. You’ll be reading this report just after we’ve attended the regular Powderham Historic Vehicle Gathering too where a good number of TRs are booked to attend so let’s hope that this was another great event.

Have a look on our Devon pages for our programme and watch out for my regular emails – if you’re not getting these, please let me know, so that I can confirm your email address.
