Social Scene Reports - TR Action Issue 280

Maurice Davey scribes: "It feels as though we have been in hibernation here in the Dales over the last few weeks. But things are now looking brighter as the year progresses and the days get lighter.
December 14th saw our pre-Christmas Lunch at the Durham Ox in Denby Dale. Seventeen members had a very ample and tasty lunch served by lovely waitresses dressed for the occasion as our photo shows. The apparent indifference being shown by some must mean it is winter and the "sap is well and truly in the roots."
At our recent Club Night we met Phil Yeomans for the first time. Phil says he was a member donkey's years ago, let it lapse and then joined again some ten years ago when he purchased two TR3s in bits with the intention of restoring them. Work seemed to get in the way but now he is retired he hopes to finally get down to the task. He is a toolmaker by trade and seems to have good contacts in engineering and a body shop. However I stressed to him the talent and knowledge within the Group should he need help.
The TR Register Winter Ball is again in Chesterfield this March and Dave Burgess, Dave Worne and their team will be doing the organising again. Well done to them, it is sure to be another big success.
Some of our Group are off to Norway on 21st June for eleven days on the Grand Tour of Norway organised by the Norwegian TR Register. What a driving marathon. They hope to drive 4000 km and then another 1200km by steamer. It is so popular the President of TR New Zealand is coming over to take part. Anyone who is interested please contact Dave Burgess, our Group Leader.
Forthcoming attractions: The Annual Winter Dinner at the White Hart, Moorwood Moor on 24th. January. TR Register Winter Ball at the Casa Hotel, Chesterfield 27th to 29th. March.. Practical Classics Restoration Show, NEC 28th - 29th. March. Drive it Day, 26th. April, Donington Historic Festival, 2nd/3rd/4th. May. Derbyshire Dales Peak Weekend 19th - 21st. June. Happy fettling. May your torque settings be ever accurate."
