Southern Peaks Run - Sunday, 21st May, 2017
A 56 miles run organised by Liz and Alan Ford taking in many of the lovely villages of the Derbyshire Dales. Starting at The Highwayman on the A619 our route took us past Robin Hood's Stride and The Grey Ladies then through the village of Elton, which at 271m a.s.l. has, reputedly, one of the finest views in the Peak District. Following a coffee stop at Carriages Bar and Restaurant we then proceeded along some of the roads proposed in 1965 as part of the Peak District International race circuit before stopping for a group photograph, then heading off to the picturesque Saxon village of Ilam at the end of the Manifold Valley. A well earned lunch was enjoyed at the Bentley Brook Inn on the A515. Thanks to Alan Ford and Hannah Cowling for the photographs.
