"Si fractum non sit, noli id reficere"
Newsletter 4/24.
Greetings Cumbria Group,
…and buckle up for a meaty newsletter.
Firstly, these are becoming fewer and further apart, and you will all realise that these days communications of the electronic variety have superseded much of the role hard copies used to hold, and so it is with CG. That said we do still have a couple of folk who are not keen on emails, and be assured that every bit of info sent at the touch of a button, is sent on paper to these members, or supplemented with a chat.
Now as it is a while since Newsletter 3/24, some, ‘Thank You’s’ are in order,
June, was indeed really busy, we were in the very capable hands of graham Dalzell, who took us into Yorkshire for an all-day cracker, Thank You Graham.
Mid June, and some folk were off into the North East for an Air B & B stay for a few days based in Saltburn, CG stalwarts, Jim and Anne put this one together, and at the end of the month, was the Inter Group Weekend, at the bestest of venues, namely The Three Counties at Malvern, a number of us managed to get there for at least some of the weekend. Clearly, our club, can’t, ‘Go it alone’ these days for such a large event, so it is undoubtedly the way forward, to get other clubs, indeed different marques together, and I think our Management Team deserve much credit for being instrumental in this years’ event.
July, and a big Thank You goes to Mark and Anita for an all-dayer in The Trough of Bowland. August took us for a two night stay, D B & B at The Riverdale at Bellingham, again Jim and Anne deserve credit for having looked at some lovely driving for us in the area.
September and we were in the North Pennines for a full day of TR’ing, with lunch at Blanchland, and October saw us West Cumberland way, for a picnic day organised by Jim and Joyce, along the Solway Coast, then back to their home, for much coffee and
Some very special homemade cake!
So to the final few weeks of 2024;-
Sunday November 3rd., and we are at Crooklands hotel, for lunch and a natter/come planning meeting for next year. Thanks to Peter Bonsall for organising the hotel, once again. All group emailers have had separate notice of this together with a lunch menu, Peter needs numbers and choices prior to the day, (Menu attached for folk who don’t do emails) Meeting starts at Noon, with a break for lunch at 1.00PM.
NB;- Teas and Coffees will need to be ordered and paid for at the bar, on an individual basis.
FYI, The National Classic Car Show, at The NEC this year is Fri. 8th – Sat. 10th.
A few of us are travelling Friday 8th. by Train.
Then our final event of the year, ‘Poshus Noshus’ namely lunch at Lyzzic Hall Hotel,
by Bassenthwaite, Saturday, December 7th. Immediately let me hand Dave Couling all the credit for sorting this one for us.
Our group guests for this years event are;-
Nan AmorAnne WhiteheadDoreen Morrison
Graham DalzellAnita DillonRos Hinde
Mark PowleyJoyce Milligan
Do please tell me if I have missed anyone, and we will assume all guests will be attending, unless told differently.
For all others cost, to include small gratuity is £40 per person, arrive 12-12.30 for lunch at 1.00PM. Dave found on settling up last year that, someone had, I’m sure inadvertently, charged extras to the group, please ensure anything additional ordered
Is covered by yourselves.
I mentioned above our group trip to Austria. We thought it would publicise both our group and the club if we arranged ‘Car Rally Plaques’ for the event, so to that end we helped with the artwork, the individuals bought the plates, but our group spent £45 towards the set up costs.
We still have a small amount of the Gates Barricade, highly rated and Ethanol Proof
Petrol Pipe, ¼ (6mm) and 5/16 (8mm) I will bring to the November Meet.
I know of someone in the group, looking to buy a Triumph Stag, this person wishes to remain anonymous at this time, for obvious reasons, but if you know of anything, not a project, let me know.
Hope you have all, actioned the H.O. email re new membership info and password etc.?
