Greetings Cumbria Group,

Newsletter 5/20.

Hi Cumbria Group.

So, I think it fair to say that all our efforts to have our adventure weekend at Fort William, were thwarted at the 11th hour!

IF the Scottish, Covid, amended regulations, had totally aligned with the English ones then we could still have had our Trip, as it was, they didn't and we couldn't! All, 'Water under the bridge,' now but frustrating nevertheless.

Now normally, The Campsite does not start booking for a season until December, but I was informed that this year because of the numbers automatically re-booking after Covid Cancellations, they had to keep their booking facilities open. Learning this, I stepped in, and booked our trip from Wednesday May 19th to Sunday May 23rd. For those looking, 2 and 3 bed pods plus caravans will all be available to be booked directly by yourselves, but you might want to get in touch with me first.

Now before I go for therapy lets thank the folk who enabled us to enjoy some TR'ing,

this last few weeks. Namely Brian and Carol Moreton, who put together a cracker of a run to a picnic above Keswick, by the Castlerigg Stone circle, and Mark and Ann Sindle who did our September Picnic to Talkin Tarn, in the very North of the County.

For this one we left Penrith in a downpour, arrived an hour or so later at The Tarn in glorious Sunshine and needed the wipers to get home later in the afternoon, we can claim, 'The Gods were with us on this one' Big Thanks to you all, arranging runs in this most difficult of times.

Now looking to our programme for the rest of 2020,

well, What Programme, should be the cry?

Our Bellingham Overnighter had to be cancelled for a second time, The BTCC Meet, at Croft, re-scheduled from the summer is now behind closed doors, and under current Covid rules, it will not be possible to hold our natter day, and Pre-AGM lunch at Crooklands in November, which brings us to our final planned event of the year namely our fine Dining at Lyzzic Hall on December 5th.

Our guests for this event are;-

Anne Whitehead Helen Reed

Nan Amor Carol moreton

Viv Bayliffe Ann Sindle

PLEASE, let me know if I have missed anyone.

So, this event, as I write is several weeks away, and hopefully will be allowed,

but if we cannot proceed on Saturday, December 5th, then we will re-group to hold the event as soon as possible early next year, I think it only proper that we honour our commitment to these ladies, who have gone the extra mile, in this most difficult of years.

Did you all note the altered date for next years IWE, NOT now June but August!

Finally, we intended to chat about a group trip to France next summer, at the November Meet, is there any interest?

As ever, if you need any further info, just ask.

Keep safe and Well.

John.
