Brunel Group - Chipping Sodbury Run
The 24thChipping Sodbury Run started in cloud but ended in brilliant sunshine with a very full and mixed entry of cars and motorcycles. It stayed dry all day so it was roof down motoring as we were taken out onto the rural roads of Wiltshire. A last minute road closure at one point gave rise to some DIY route planning in order to get back on track, apparently the road was open when checked the evening before.
The coffee and cake stop was at the Royal Wotton Bassett Rugby Club which boasts a very modern club house with excellent facilities. Brunel members Eric Batty and son Chris, Steve Short, Dennis Lane, Derek Roberts, Derek and Margaret Lee, and Robert Turrell in his TR4a were participants and also present were Martin and Victoria Moore who some may remember were active members of Brunel with their yellowTR2. the TR2 now resides in France with a new owner and they have a very smart green and cream Austin Healey 3000.
The event was heavily oversubscribed so Dave Lewis (a late application) had to be content attending the start with his 3A to see us off but it was good to see him there. The finish was, as last year, at the Chipping Sodbury Rugby Club where there was a lunch tent, bar and local music group to add to the atmosphere.
