Group Leader Ramblings
I'll start off by wishing you all a very Happy New Year, and lots of fun with your TR doing all the things you like with it.
The December meeting was very well attended for a December meeting, we were all clearly very well prepared for Christmas, or trying to get away from it.
There are quite a few things to note in the Events Coming Up sections this month, please have a read through.

This Drive It Day event has been supported by Brunel Group members for a number of years and raises a good sum of money for charity
It all started in 2007 when Brian & Mary Curtis arranged a small gathering of classic and vintage cars inside Clarks Village to raise funds for the Childrens Hospice CHSW.
In 2016 the Clevedon Lions Club took over the running of this event, and they continue to support CHSW as well as the Great Western Air Ambulance and Lions Club charities. The booking form is at the end of this newsletter.
Drive It Day – TR Register Event – Sunday 22 April 2018
Derek Hurford, the TR Register Director for Southern England is planning a group of groups event where each group can either arrange their own run, or join in with another group, with the aim of groups of groups all reaching a single finishing point to create a mass TR gathering. He recognises all the Southern groups are too widespread to congregate at a single point but maybe three or four across the southern counties is practical. We could tie up with Glavon, Kennet, Somerset, and/or Devon for example. All feedback gratefully received.
Classic Le Mans 2018 – 6 to 8 July 2018
2018 is another Classic Le Mans year.At least two of the group are going over for this one.
It will be held on the Grand Circuit 24 Hours of Le Mans. At the last event in 2016, more than 123.000 spectators saw nearly 550 race cars on the track and 8.500 cars in the general enclosure specially designed to accommodate 180 clubs representing 60 brands!
A follow up the MoT
My TR6 failed it's MoT on two points and had three advisories.
- 1.The horn fault was the horn push, so contacts all cleaned now and working well. The set of noisy Fiamm air horns are still in the box but I'll put them on soon.
- 2.The driver's headlamp was adjusted against a white board and the tester says it's fine. They still look dim though, so I'm buying some better glasses!
The advisories were:
- 1.A top wishbone bush was starting to look a bit tired, I just had time to put some Revington polybushes on the driver's side and the tester was happy with them. The nearside bushes are now out ready for the new ones next weekend.I may tighten the front Konis up a notch following comments from Kev Bryant last year.
- 2.The steering is a little bit stiff.Keep lubricating things till it frees up I thought.Didn't make any difference, Revington said leave it alone it's fine, tester said on his fancy new MoT jiggle plates its tightening up slightly near the full lock on both sides, so it stays an advisory and I'll have a better look in slow time. This is a Moss rack with less than 10,000 miles on it, any thoughts?
- 3.The front offside wheel wobbled more than the nearside, I tightened it up one flat and the man is happy with it.
