While you have the drain tap out, it's worth giving the cooling system a thorough flush and poking wire through the drain hole. It's not possible to fully clear serious corrosion sediment this way, but looking with a wire will dislodge some of the crud. Nigel Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Having a tap in there reduces the size of the hole to let the debris out and almost always ends up blocking the tap so you end up removing it anyway. Having to take the plug out gives you the opportunity to poke about in there and remove the crud. Ralph Quote Link to post Share on other sites
