That’s incredible Charlie, how did you do that?

Hello Sue,

As I'm not a member of the TRR I'm not sure if I'm allowed to talk to you, but I'll risk it.

I looked for any other places where the photo that you supplied appeared, wondering if there may be more. (I was curious to find out exactly where the picture was taken.)

That took me to:

And there it was.

Charlie

PS, Here are a load more TR4s

Ah those halcyon days when you could drive through London with no thought of congestion charges, emission zones, parking problems, no satnav, no parking apps. The only EV's were milk floats. Petrol less than £1 a gallon. No seat belts................

Keith

The really great thing was you could get a fairly decent TR4 for less then £500!

Infact I think, unless my memory is wrong, its probably more like £300?

As Charlie discovered above, the film from which the pictures were taken is "A Touch of Love".

Featuring Sandy Dennis, it was filmed mainly in and around Marylebone in July 1968. Also on the cast list are a very young Ian McKellen (his first screen role), Michael Coles, John Standing and Eleanor Bron. Penelope Keith appears very briefly as a nurse, however she doesn't get a mention in the credits, being relatively unknown at the time. "The Good Life" was still seven years away.

The TR4 appears at two points - at 15:33, and 1:15:35.

Just before that, at 1:16:42 ,  in front of the Mini van is that a Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster?

I wonder how cheap they were then.

On the windscreen of the TR, is that an ashtray or a flower vase?

I bought my TR4 in 1973 for £125 as a perfectly good usable car, the, brand new 40DCOE carb kit (including all the linkages) set me back £42 and the new Corbeau seats were £25 for the pair. About 1967 a friend swapped a  1964 Vauxhall PB Cresta for a 1954 R type Bentley with a Freestone & Webb body he later swapped that for a Jaguar XK150s, all usable tidy vehicles, Happy days.
