Rob Waldron
Hi does anyone have a TR6 Plenum they no longer require. Condition is not that important as i will be modifying it to increase the diameter to 100mm . Experimenting on air flow to the throttle bodies. You might have read on a previous thread at present the car had been fitted with K&N filters replacing the standard plenum. Which works fine when moving on the open road. Sadly when in traffic, as someone mentioned before they are then basically sat in oven sucking in hot air which is causing a misfire. So decided to go back to standard but a little larger. Also considering fitting a heat shield of some description above the exhaust manifold has anyone tried this or made one ? OldBob
Hi Rob, I had triple K&N's and experienced same symptoms as you. I ended up fitting a standard plenum and the difference was very noticeable - engine was breathing much better in all conditions. I did make sure the ellie trunk down to a K&N free flow filter (E9108? maybe - if you can get one) and fitted inside an original pi filter can was part of the setup though.... the plenum didn't need increasing on my 150 engine, perhaps worth trying it before you do that extra work. Mick Forey
I modified a plenum to increase its diameter to 110mm, as big as you go, with a flexible pipe connecting to a K&N filter poking into the radiator cowl. This was done for better breathing at high altitude. I am convinced it made a positive difference but have no data to support this post-decision justification. Mick
