harrytr5
I have a problem with Moss trackrod ends being longer by nearly 4mm resulting in bottoming out leaving the wheels spayed outwards. My old worn ones are shorter and work but do not know where I got them from. I am on power steering so that could be the problem but as CCD has sold many, many over the years and this would have cropped up ten years or so ago I do not think this is the case. I will be contacting Moss on Monday to discuss. Do your measurements add up to my shorter correct one( 71.89 mm) and where did you get them from? I am desperate to get some decent mileage in before winter shuts us down. Regards Harry
RogerH
Hi Harry This problem was noticed quite a few years ago. If you go to any high street car factor they will be able to supply TR6 TRE's - these are the same for TR4A etc. Roger
harrytr5
Thanks Roger and I wonder why Moss is still selling them? Pee,s me off when you have to do the job twice including the visit to the tracking guys and more cost and time to you self. Regards Harry
harrytr5
I have the Moss one and the original one on the bench and there is a difference of 6mm from my old one being 6mm shorter than the Moss one. I will be phoning Jeff Marks in the morning to see what he has to say. Regards Harry
harlequin
I had a similar issue with my T series MG, fortunately the thread length was far greater then was needed so I was able to cut them down a bit to get the correct adjustment. George
trchris
Moss aren’t all they’re cracked up to be Chris
RogerH
Hi Chris, don't be too critical. They have kept our cars on the road for a very long time. Occasionally things go wrong. They do try to correct issues. Is there actually any supplier that is 100% spot on. Roger
trchris
Hi Roger l don’t mean to be negative and l understand they do as others keep our cars ship shape and Bristol fashion but sometimes the crown slips l don’t mean to offend Chris
Rob Salisbury
+!, Cox and Buckles have a lot to answer for and most of it good to very good, along with Lukas at The TR shop we have a generally better parts supply than in the days of Triumph Main Dealers. Cheers Rob
yardman
i get my parts from trgb as a garage they fit there parts so sell the parts that fit, also very reasonable on price and very helpful
harrytr5
I am not knocking Moss as they have been very good and occasionally things might slip by and my first post was to see if anyone else has had the same problem and not me going mad! I am sure it will be resolved. Regards Harry
harrytr5
Jeff Marks changed out the track rods ends with out any fuss and noted that the drilling was not deep enough, nor was the thread depth. The sealed for life are correct and soon fitted and tracked at my favourite tyre depot. I have been using Moss (formally Cox and Buckles, Manor road) since the late 70,s or early 80,s and very glad of it. With out them where would we be! Happy bunny now. RogerH
Hi Harry, that explains a great deal. So it wasn't that they were too long (the body) it was that the hole and thread depth was too short. Roger
