I have a letter from M&S BANK asking for my bank account details so that they can make a refund of £65 which is the balance on my M&S Chargecard. There is a number 0345 ''' '''' but there is no sender address on the letter. If I do not reply it will go to charity.

I am not willing to give my private bank details to a third party. Has anyone else had a letter from M & S banking team ??

Thanks for any advice

Sounds (IS) like a Scam. M&S bank know your details, would never ask for them, the charity bit is a threat to make you think you will loose your refund. As David says call the number on the back of your card and report. Keep the evidence M&S Bank will want to investigate.

Take care

I think there may be some confusion as to what Richard is saying.

The M&S charge card is not the same as a credit card and is used just to buy goods from M&S.

They have recently stopped the scheme and need to repay any customers who still have money on the card.

Here is an extract from the M&S website.:

========

What has happened to my credit balance?

Call us on 0345 300 0244 and we will discuss returning it to you, lines are open Monday - Friday 9am - 6pm.

If your balance is less than £10, we'll donate the amount to charity, split equally between YoungMinds and Macmillan. Just to let you know that if you contact us after your account has been closed to claim your credit balance, we can still refund the full amount to you, even if it's been donated to charity.

I would guess it is all legit, but go to  https://bank.marksandspencer.com/storecard/

to reassure yourself.
