This drains the battery voltage to a level where there is not enough to excite the alternator into charging. The new battery will have 12v and the alternator will behave as normal until the battery voltage falls below the threshold again. Jim

Jim thanks Jim alternator is new and tested 14.43 volts puting out but once you put lights on after a short run goes back to battery voltage 11.99 to 12.45 volts switch off lights and battery will not recuperate neither the alternator will go back to 14.43 volts? could be a short on elctric motors for the lights ? thanks Gilberto
jrv8
Hi, I think a visit to an autospark is required. Jim
daniel p
voltage is nothing without amps, if you have access to an ameter (sp) it may be worth checking how many amps the alternator is pumping out and how many it should be!
