woodward
Hi All, Trying to fit my new grille to my new front valance. The lower screws are all on but the upper looks like this. Could be solved by pulling the upper part of the grille away from the valance. Or it could be that the tabs on the top are not correct. Or something else completely. Any suggestions what to do? Thanks Myles
Malbaby
Front on pic with the bonnet closed may assist with suggestions.
Bfg
Myles, if you slacken all the bottom fastening right the way off, then will the top not tap down ? (via a block of timber to distribute the impact load). I cannot remember exactly, and it's too late to have a look at my car tonight, but I thought the bottom fastenings were into clips, which allowed a certain 'latitude' ..or longitude in their location. Chilliman
I think it may be just a case of gentle fettling to bring it forward away from the front panel. Here's a picture of one of mine which is an original.
rcreweread
Miles The top rail of the front panel should be curved in two planes - it should have a gentle curve to the front and a much more pronounced curve along the top in a vertical plane - from your photo, it looks like your top rail is fairly flat in both planes which would explain the gaps you are experiencing I've tried to put some photos on here but my laptop is playing up - if you search ebay, you will find a front panel for sale with a few photos which will illustrate this Hope this helps Cheers Rich
stuart
These two pictures may help to show the curvature (TR5 but its the same panel) Stuart.
tr graham
Stuart unfortunately I will have to correct you ,the TR 5 panel is slightly different, albeit the top curvature is the same , graham

ianc
Although the Parts Manual lists 3 different Part Numbers for TR4 (850351), TR4A (808801) and TR5 (812408), the line drawings certainly look the same, so the differences must be very minor. Like Stuart, I shall be very interested to discover what Graham knows - and Stuart doesn't ! Ian Cornish
