Can anybody please identify the part bolted to the underside of my spare wheel carrier on my early long door car?

I can only assume its some kind of jacking point. Could be for spare wheel anchor but, my guess is an early jack point (competition accessory?) or only early fitment, can't see it in the Moss catalogue.

Stuart.

Thanks, I wasn’t expecting that one.
no bumper to bolt to, so I see the logic.
Incidentally, the  trumpet part is in body colour…. White.

That may well be true, but why is the mounting bracket fitted at an odd angle? And where is the hole in the floor for the wires to go through?

Plus “Reversing light” is not a very exotic/exciting answer really is it.
I’m certain the real reason it is there is far more interesting.

Ah…
So now we have a bit of it described as a “Trumpet part.”
See…
Getting more intriguing now.

(How many reversing lights have a "Trumpet part" attached to them?)

Definitely a smokescreen nozzle!  Or an oil slick!  :D

Reminds me, didn't Tilly Masterson drive a sidescreen TR in the original Goldfinger novel ??

Oooh blimey. Has Ken got himself a Bond TR ??
