monty
Just changed the oil in my gearbox/J type overdrive. How long does the oil take to circulate & refill fully the o/d. I was wondering how long to leave before I recheck the oil level in the gearbox. I fully drained the o/d by removing the small sump cover. Does the oil flow into the o/d immediately or does it require a few miles running is the question I guess.

Tom Chatterley- Cox
We always say to customers: go and have a cup of tea and then check it again. Not so much of an issue with J-Types as the sump is a bit smaller than the earlier A-Types, but you're really waiting for the oil to level out in the unit rather than refil the oilways, it won't very much at all if at all when you first drive. As John said it is virtually straight away, but its worth double checking.
ianc
In this current warm/hot weather, the oil will be less viscous and Tom's advice is very sensible (and the Cox father and son really know their business!). Ian Cornish
