Fuse list.

Is there a list of what each fuse covers so I don’t have to fiddle about with binoculars looking at the wiring diagram?  
 

Bottom fuse blew intermittently but now blows as soon as ignition is on

That fuse powers everything that comes on with the ignition (apart from the ignition itself) - i.e. heater fan, wipers, indicators, instruments, brake lights etc- all the green wires.  Better get the binoculars out as the only way if sorting out where the fault is, is to isolate each individual feed in turn.  It is actually easy if your fault is permanent - it's the intermittent ones that take a bit of finding. 

Remove the white wire from the ignition coil so you don't burn it out and temporarily wire a low wattage 12v bulb (e.g. dash bulb)  in place of the fuse.  With the ignition on, the lamp will light while the fault is there.  Pull off each green feed in turn until the light goes out. - the fault is somewhere along the last wire you removed - just work downwards  to each branch until you find the actual culprit.

Heater motor had shorted out on mine and kept blowing the same fuse. It is a ridiculous set up with too few fuses and I fitted a modern fuse holder with 6 blade fuses. Then able to separate the circuits and fit more appropriate sized fuses.

I had an intermittent fuse blowing, turned out to the the fan switch, if I pulled it a certain way it would short against the metal dash, found two of the redundant pins were bent and touching when you pulled the switch.

Thanks chaps. By way of an update we determined it was indeed the fan. 
 

Not sure if it’s the switch or the motor yet. 
 

Also inserted a separate fuse for the ignition so if anything on the greens fail at least the car will sill run

It was the heater motor on mine, fitted a new motor and all good since.

It was a little while back but I think I just removed the centre console, glove box and a couple of gauges for access. A bit fiddly but not too challenging.

Hi Lee,

I know what you mean about the wiring diagram !! We are all getting older, I feel like a youngster when I go to the local meet, I'm 56 !!

If you go on Ebay there is a retailer selling TR6 wiring diagrams in colour and A3 laminated. I found this very helpful recently when changing my dash.
