SteveB21
I have had to take out my radiator for some TLC and just wondered if there are any jobs/checks I should do around the front while it is out and I have easy access? I already plan the following: Tidy up the horn and headlight wiring Sand & paint the radiator support bars De-rust and paint the front of the chassis, the cross bar and radiator shield Check the ARB fixings Remake the earth connector on the steering rack TIA Steve
RogerH
Hi Steve, check water pump for any signs of leaking. Check around the timing chain cover for signs of oil leaks Check the bottom steering shaft UJ for security Roger
John L
clean and remake all the electrical bullet connectors, you may need some new double connectors, much easier with the rad out. John
Tim D.
Change the camshaft. Ok maybe a bit extreme but the Rad does need to be out to do it in situ Tim
SteveB21
Thanks guys - don't think I'll be changing the camshaft Tim! But I will definitely add the rest to my list. Steve
Rob Y
Would it be an idea to check the end float to make sure the thrust washers are OK? Rob
Paulfc
Take the grill off, remembering the nuts are usually very rusty and studs fixed to the grill are not very strong. So use lots of lubricant. Once off clean it up and paint it. You’ll also be able to remove and clean up the finishing piece it sits on.
