Guest Frog's TR6

Hello Everyone,

I'm laurent from north of France. I'm preparing a long trip (10 days) with my 1974 TR6 PI in september 06 in Scotland. To well prepare this trip, I need members help to have some good adresses of garages or triumph specialists in case of (?) even if my car is in very good condition. I schedule to make about 800 miles in 10 days. I will arrive by boat in Edinburgh in september. I will then drive to the Highlands. Hope to have some answers...

Thank you for your help. Regards. Laurentpost-3874-1155483687.jpgpost-3874-1155483687.jpg

Hi Laurent

There's a bit of a lack of real PI specialists throughout Scotland I think its fair to say, but a number of us do run PI's and we get by either through great advice from this forum or we make the occasional trip south to have them expertly done.

You'll find that there are a number of TR6 owners up here in the north. Let me know when you are planning to be in the Highlands and I'll see if I can get some of the local group together for a pint and a chat somewhere convenient.

Safe journey

Bob

Hi Laurent,

I bought my TR6 from Richard Larter who runs Balfron Sports Cars 01360 440921.

He is situated in Balfron about 20 miles north of Glasgow and close to Loch Lomond

He knows Triumphs quite well and is the Scottish Group Co-ordinator for the TR Register.

If you get into any problems I feel sure he would be pleased to help

Have an enjoyable trip

:D

Hi Laurent

Whilst its true to say there are not many TR specalists in Sctoland something the might be of help to you is the European Breakdown Directory. It list parts and srevices suppliers for TRs thoughout Europe. It has some 43 entries for the UK so at least you would have a list of specalists that you could contact if you needed to while on your trip. It is available from the TR Register Office at about €5.00 plus p&p.

Hope you have a good trip.

Laurent,

I'm afraid I can't help you on this one, as I'm London-based.

However, I'm going to Northern France for a fortnight next week (near Le Touquet). Do you know of any good local garagistes who understand TR6s? I can easily make it as far as Boulogne, Calais, St Omer, Lens, Arras or even Amiens.

Merci! Best of luck for your Scottish trip!

Eli

Hi Laurent

I think your best bet is to have some phone numbers of TR6 owners from the club that you can call on if required. I live near Pitlochry on the river Tay, let me know if you want details. If Bob can organise a meeting during your visit all the better.

Hi Laurent

See? ……..No need to worry about your trip as the ‘Jocks’ will look after you, so just enjoy your time up there. B)

Shame about their football and rugby teams though! :D

Have a good journey

Cheers

Without wishing to sound patronising, I have read the above threads and it's reaally nice to see how many offers of help/assistance have been offered to Laurent.

I regularly take runs over to France, in fact going in 2 days time to Honfleur with the South Downs Group for 3-4 days, and although we haven't arranged to meet any of the France TR Group, it wouldn't surprise me if some turned up at our hotels. In fact I organised a 3 day visit tot he Le Touquet area in June and we met local enthusiasts in a town closeby and had a great time.

This sort of cameraderie augurs well for the future of our club. Long may it continue.

Laurent, Bon vacance.. :D

Andrew, the only difference between our football team and yours is------- ours know they're rubbish

Laurent, I'm touring up north at the same time as you, if you see a Sapphire blue 6 with a large bloke and a small woman, give us a wave :D

Perhaps the only true way to resolve this is to reinstate the old Home Championship with England, Scotland, Wales and N.Ireland, perhaps with France and Italy included as in rugby.

I'm too old, my nerves and liver couldn't take it any more, I used to enjoy the bi-annual trip [rampage] to Wembley, the last time, 11 of us hired a minibus [the 12th seat was for the carryout  ], Scotland got beat 5-0, the first goal was scored before I reached my seat, retired from the tartan army after that and sold my kilt  .

Andew, it's very difficult after all these years to tell which bit of my back grass came from Wembley, it all looks the same now
