Interesting rear axle mod on ebay car

Recommended Posts

item no 175083861629

TR3 restoration job.

Note the rear axle/springs/ and shockers.

Is this a handling mod I have never heard about?

Looks like the whole assembly, springs and everything have been put on upside down, but none of the bolts look to have been removed recently. And any oil will have escaped through the breather.

Presumably the car had been apart and thrown back together to sell, or make mobile.

Incidentally, I can never find how to put the direct link to an ebay site and end up always quoting the item number, how is it done Roger?

Hi Ralph,

Every page that is displayed will have its address in the top info bar that is usually grey - Left click on this and then do a CONTROL C to copy.

When you are on the forum page you can do either a CONTROL V and paste it onto the page

Or better still, if you have a long address - left click on the paper clip in the tool bar above - insert the address(CONTROL  V) give it a name and enter.

Easy when you know how. I had to be told a couple of years ago.

Interestingly the Moss WebCat shows the diff half shaft tubes under the spring        Spring

Artistic licence or license.   Put the axle over and obscure the spring etc which are the items being listed and sold on that page.   Picture was probably lifted from Standard Triumph parts book.

Re the 1961 “TR3”

Lockheed (pre 1956) axle fitted inverted to get the chassis mobile when there is no weight on it to compress the spring
Pre 1960 (TS60k) rear floor assembly with no rear indicators on the apron so pre 1957.

Its probably just a bitsa with a log book.   Nice pile of stuff to the person with the missing parts.
