4a v 5 bulkhead

The plenum panel on my TR5 has rotted out and the repair panel isn’t available, is it possible to use a 4a plenum panel and weld plates on the 4a air vent holes or is the panel a different shape altogether ?

It is the same shape so yes thats possible though a lot of work. You need to do this.

How often are you having to do that sort of plenum end repair Stuart?

We never sold a lot of complete plenums, but did always have one in stock.

Quite a lot, pretty much always on a 5 and only slightly less often on a 6. The design doesnt help itself. On a 4a with the airflow through and out the dash means there is air passing through it so drying it out, but with it being blanked off on the 5 and 6 water just accumulates especially as the drain stub sticks up slightly inside so there is always some damp left in the bottom. A whole plenum replacement would be a major undertaking but a repair panel similar to the above one with a new stub(The other one was for a section that didnt need the stub end replacing) would be commercially viable (or would have been had it been brought out 20 yrs ago!)

Stuart.
