Gearbox plug size

Hi All.

  Could someone tell me what size thread is the gearbox filling plug please ?

id like to fit a hex head rather than the square.

I guess you would simply go to your local chandler or plumbers merchant

If you haven't sorted a plug.

I have a hex magnetic one from Revingtons.

When I started to fit it was very tight when only a 3rd of the thread was in so I put the old square plug back in which works fine with a female square socket.

Is this the same size for the diff filler and in my case, drain too?

When going to paint my recon diff yesterday I noticed a slight weep and so did up the drain plug albeit so marginal. I was thinking of replacig both with a hex bolt to add a washer but guess if it is a taper thread that will not work.

Providing you're careful you can seal it with PTFE tape, just be careful none gets loose & trapped in the diff.
