Exactly! the Lucas PI system is very reliable once it is set up properly PI cars suffered from neglect over the years and thus gained the unreliability reputation i’ve now had two PI setups refurbished by Neil Fergussen, and am in fact helping another member later today to install a set of Neil’s bargain of the century refurbished injectors. my current TR6 benefitted from a set of these injectors 8 years / 24k miles ago and still runs perfectly I love the PI system, it’s such a part of the character of the car, so maintain it don’t replace it ! steve Quote Link to post Share on other sites

I leave mine (Lucas) for several minutes as it has to build up over 100psi... and fuel doesn't get to all the injectors instantly...as with each crank of the engine fuel is slowly making it's way up to each one...I've had mine for over 40 years...they ain't 'Turn Key' ! Scaf Posted February 17, 2022 Author Report Share Posted February 17, 2022 Well time ticking by and I need to make sure I get the car is good shape to ensure max use when the sun comes out. Having established that 3 of the injectors empty themselves overnight, I think that has to be my starting point. Good luck! i recommend filling each injector with fresh fuel before connecting it to the line and inserting in the manifolds, this greatly reduces cranking for the first start steve Quote Link to post Share on other sites

I don't bother priming- you will be amazed at how fast a TR6 cranks over with the plugs removed. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Scaf Posted February 19, 2022 Author Report Share Posted February 19, 2022 What a difference !! Swapped out the injectors and bled the system, car fired immediately and after a minute or two rad very smoothly. The throttle response has been transformed, something I didn’t realise was a problem, as the car now revs more freely. So pleased as all went to plan with no issues. Am also doing a few little jobs like tidying up the front grille, replacing front badge that was damaged and smartening up the chin spoiler. Then it will be tackling replacing the light stalk which looks like a pig of a job. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
