PI injectors

Recommended Posts

Hi

In order to overcome a lumpy running problem I took the car to a specialist tuning company.

They diagnosed problems with a couple of P.I injectors and so they fitted 6 news one, but then found one of these to be faulty so replaced it.

The car was fine for about 20 miles than the lumpy running returned as before the work. I, and the garage, are assuming that

one or two of the new injectors are faulty.

But are injectors as unreliable as this? Can anyone recommend a quality injector supplier?

Best Wishes

When you replace any of the injectors, you must ensure that each injector line is fully bled of air. I suspect that this is what happen to you other than air in the injector line.  Years ago the Lucas CAV dealer near me used to hold the injector line vertical to back fill each injector line with petrol using a WSCO oil can filled with petrol before he screwed the injector on. This method was also used when he changed the M/U. No 10 minutes of cranking and swearing?

Bruce.

As Bruce indicates,

do a 2nd attempt in venting the fuel lines. I kept the lines vertical, with the pump running, and tapped on each line (many times) with my free hand until no more air bubbles came out. I helps to full out the injector needles now and then during this process. I also cracked the engine (2nd person) every now and then, but not continuous.
Important: take lead from coil during all this!

Neil Revington refurnished my entire injection gear, he did an excellent job for me.
