Alternative Fuel Injection

Recommended Posts

I hadn’t seen it mentioned elsewhere, but thought some may be interested in an active project in the US, gentleman has been producing FI inlets for 6-cylinder models and more recently for 4-pots.

Initial info was available on a number of F/book pages (I know some folk are not big on that platform) however he is partnering with RATCO to bring it to market to a wider audience. RATCO’s website now includes some info.

Prices didn’t seem too crazy if that was a path you wanted to take.

(no commercial interest or recommendation on my part)

"Prices not to crazy" - couldn't find a price list, can you quote, Andy?

I don’t think RATCO have announced pricing yet.

i have seen 4-cylinder quoted at 1250 USD and 1400 USD for the 6-cylinder variant direct from the creator at the outset.

Just the unit pictured above (no ECU or pump, or sensors, etc) is on Ebay for $1,750.

Very interesting. The Ebay ad did not mention a fuel return line, possible modifications to the petrol tank, and the need for a crank wheel and sensor for use with the Microsquirt ECU. The Microsquirt documentation seems to indicate that a GM HEI distributor pick up could be used, but would not be as accurate as a crank wheel.

The Patton TBI system uses a Lucas distributor modified for the GM HEI Hall effect: http://www.pattonmachine.com/TBI-Distributor-Conversion.htm#Coils
