NeilR
I have a knocking from the rear of my TR4 when going over rough surfaces/bumps. Not sure where to start looking for wear etc. It has the standard suspension set up. What is the most common cause of knocks , shock absorber links, dampers, worn rubber bushes? Would appreciate advice on where to start.
Lebro
Loose bolts holding the dampers to the chassis brackets is most common. Bob.
Z320
Hi Neil, if the dampers are tight I recommend to check the wire wheel central nuts. Are they tight enough? If you have a tool 300 Nm is correct. Ciao, Marco

Aldpilot
I had exactly the same problem and when I checked one of the lever arm bolts that Bob mentions, one was loose. Nipped it up and all was well again. Mike
lynchpin
Hi Had this recurring problem before and cured it by adding spring washers to the lever arm shock absorbers fixing nuts/bolts.. Phil.. Edited August 20, 2021 by lynchpin
NeilR
Many thanks for advice so far guys. Will get under the car this weekend to check if loose bolts are the problem.

I found the access to them on my TR4 to be awkward so I replaced the bolts with Hex drive bolts. I find it easier to slip a Hex drive past the dampers than a socket. Lebro
+1 that's also what I have done. even better if you can weld captive nuts to the rear. Bob.
