I have recently purchased a TR4 and require some help with a few items..

1. Where can i purchase MX5 seats...with detachable headrests ?

2. Who are the best companies to purchase spares etc. from  ?

3. What is the cost (  generally ) of converting from left hand drive to right hand drive. ?

There may be more info required in the near future.

Hi Barry,

 welcome to the forum.

Where about are you in the UK?

Use your first £40 purchase to join the TR Register if you are not already with us.

MX5 seats are good but have you tried them in anger compared to TR4A seats etc.  I thknk the best chap is Paul Bishop in Winchester.

In no particular order - TRShop in Chiswick, Moss, TRGB  are all very good . Rimmers is also worth considering.

RevingtonTR in the West Country do some very good stuff. Racetorations in the east are excellent but so are their prices.

Not sure of the conversion cost.

Hi Barry

Just to add to Roger’s comments there is no quantifiable cost to convert LH>RH but probably best to make a list of parts and search the upcoming Autojumbles.

There is an event at Beaulieu next month which is usually attended by Triumph specialists, at the NEC in November ( not such a broad range of Autojumble) and the MG and Triumph Show at Telford on January 23rd 2022. These should yield parts which you can probably negotiate on, discuss and pick up on the day. It might save a small fortune in carriage charges too and with the added benefit of some certainty you will come away with the right parts.

Hi Barry

Roger and Kevin have already given good advice just to add TRGB and TR shop also do a good selection of second hand parts although it will be cheaper if as Kevin suggests you visit the autojumbles and as always help and guidance is always available here

Barry,

1. Regularly on eBay. £100 should buy you a good pair. You need £50 for a seat runner conversion kit.

2. I generally buy from DMG triumph. With your £40 TR membership (as RogerH suggests)  you get 10% off all prices. Web site not as good as Moss though. Get a free parts catalogue from moss. Invaluable.

3. DIY approx £1000 but welding and mechanic skills required. Some metalwork parts, Rack, dashboard, (wood and metal backing), brake and clutch lines, accelerator pedal mechanism, lights, lenses, wipers, plus lots of other things that will get lost in general restoration costs.

Hi Barry, welcome to the forum.

I will add another bit of advice: come along the largest Triumph and MG weekend on the planet in one week's time at Malvern: https://www.tr-register.co.uk/article/2021/07/0270/Book-now-for-the-massive-Triumph-and-MG-Weekend. There you will meet lots of like minded enthusiasts, see all the cars you need to see. Find some people who have done the conversion and see how they have done it. There are traders large and small, a large autojumble and a bring and buy to source parts and get even more advice. Come for the day or the weekend. Camp on site or stay local and join in the fun at the bar with live entertainment on Friday and Saturday evening. What is not to like?

See you there,

Mick
