Are you 100% sure it’s the diff / back axle?

I spent months chasing a whining rumbling noise that both myself and my son swore came from the back of the car.  At the next MOT, I had a comment that the nearside front wheel bearing was ever so slightly rough but not enough to warrant an advisory.

I changed it the next week and the “noise from the rear” disappeared completely.  I’d changed my propshaft and rubber gearbox mount previously thinking they were the culprits, they weren’t.   On the plus side I now have a shortened SD1 propshaft and a modified And quieter Volvo gearbox mount.

The NC500 is great, I did it 4 years ago.

Not 100 percent sure it's the diff but the noise dies down when you take your foot off the accelerator
