little jim
Not sure I'd seen it before today either. However the condition my memory is in I'd better not put any money on it. Just discovered it is (was??) made by Staedtler (Germany.)
HSM
It is actually a lead sharpener for a draughtsmans clutch pencil. I still have one and a clutch pencil from my days as an apprentice draughtsman. Happy lead sharpening Harvey .
boxofbits
Interesting implements. I always use my bench grinder to sharpen my garage pencil. Get the rotation and angle right…perfect. Get it wrong and…..! Kevin

Thanks Harvey, you've filled in a couple of blanks, my old man was an electrical draughtsman and it was his pencil originally. It's Caran D'ache, Swiss like him. harlequin
The Steadtler pencils came in a range of sizes from about .3mm to 1mm to give different line weights on drawings. They also came in different grades HB H2 etc plus a range of plastic 'leads" for drawing on plastic film which replaced tracing drawing paper in the 1970s George (retired draughtsman) Edited July 13, 2021 by harlequin
